    Carrageenan Free

    Food without Carrageenan. Carrageenan is a common food additive that is extracted from a red seaweed, Chondrus crispus, which is popularly known as Irish moss. Carrageenan, which has no nutritional value, has been used as a thickener and emulsifier to improve the texture of ice cream, yogurt, cottage cheese, soy milk, and other processed foods.

    Dairy Free

    Food without dairy. Dairy products are types of food produced from or containing milk, including yogurt, cheese and butter.

    Gluten Free

    Food that is free from gluten. Gluten is the protein found in wheat and related grains that has been linked to stripping away the gut’s protective layer, causing allergies and gut impairment.

    Keto

    The ketogenic (keto) diet is a well-known diet that many people are having success with. The keto diet revolves around high fats and low carbohydrates. When people consume fewer carbohydrates, the body produces ketones. Ketones are small fuel molecules that are produced in the liver. When the keto diet is implemented, the body switches its fuel supply to regulate primarily on fat.

    Kosher

    “Kosher” is a term used to describe food that complies with the strict dietary standards of traditional Jewish law. For a product to be kosher certified, and to qualify for a kosher certificate, each ingredient, food additive and processing aid used in its production must also be kosher. Additionally, to be kosher certified, the production process must be suitable for kosher requirements and therefore it must be approved by a kosher auditor. Products may be rendered non-kosher if their production lines and equipment are also used to manufacture non-kosher products.

     

    No Added Sugar

    Free from added sugar. Sweetness comes from natural sugar, fruit purees or natural sweeteners.

    Non GMO

    A GMO, or genetically modified organism, is a plant, animal, microorganism or other organism whose genetic makeup has been modified in a laboratory using genetic engineering or transgenic technology. This creates combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and virus genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods. In order for a product to be Non-GMO Project Verified, its inputs must be evaluated for compliance with Non-GMO Project standard.

    Organic

    Organic food are produced by farming system which avoids the use of man-made fertilizers, pesticides, growth regulators and livestock feed additives.

    Paleo

    An approach to eat real, whole, unprocessed, nutrient-dense foods.

    Refined sugar free

    Products with no highly processed sugar such as white sugar and corn syrup.

    Soy Free

    The soy-free diet is a modification of the normal diet with the elimination of soybeans and all foods containing by-products of soybeans. Soybeans are a legume and are a staple in Asian countries.

    Superfood

    Superfood are foods that are nutritionally dense and beneficial to one’s health.

    Vegan

    Food that is free from any type of animal products and by-products. many animal products are processed heavily in genetically modified organism (GMO), preservatives, hormones and carcinogens. Vegan food is environmentally sustainable and beneficial to all walks of life.
